Citizenship Information

Applications for Australian citizenship are actioned by the Department of Immigration and Citizenship (DIAC). All enquiries relating to Australian citizenship should be directed to DIAC on 131 880 or at www.citizenship.gov.au.

The City of Bayswater’s primary role is to conduct citizenship ceremonies to bestow citizenship upon our residents. The City holds regular citizenship ceremonies throughout the course of the year. Once a candidate’s application has been approved, and the documentation sent to their local government office, candidates are scheduled into the next available ceremony and an invitation is sent by post beforehand. Please note: there is currently a three to four-month waiting period upon approval of your application.

The City of Bayswater does not hold any information in relation to a candidate’s application until it is approved by DIAC.

ANY ENQUIRIES BEFORE RECEIPT OF YOUR NOTIFICATION OF AUSTRALIAN CITIZENSHIP SHOULD BE DIRECTED TO DIAC.
