The RISE is a winner

Winners of the 2012 Excellence in Construction Awards were announced on Saturday 23rd June with Pindan Pty Ltd winners of the 'Best Public Use Building' - Over $10 million for construction of the City of Bayswater's multi purpose facility in Maylands, The RISE.
The spacious building with its four iconic towers; amphitheatre entrance; strong and bold design features; sweeping formal staircases and balconies; abundant use of natural lighting; and high quality finishes creates a "wow" factor that emphasises its community and civic importance.
The building incorporates $700,000 of environmental sustainable elements including energy efficient lighting, solar panels, motion sensor lighting and a building energy management system to regulate electricity usage.
Mayor Terry Kenyon said, "Construction of The RISE multipurpose facility was the largest and most ambitious community project the City of Bayswater has undertaken".
"The RISE delivered the Council's vision in creating a unique, iconic landmark, community facility, with strong architectural elements to enhance the atmosphere of the town centre."
"The facility also complements the historic architecture within the precinct, while providing a contemporary state-of-the-art design, ensuring sustainability, flexibility and maximum use".
"The RISE has an important role in developing community values and vibrancy in Maylands and the surrounding area. The facility provides a vital link to the commercial and economic activities of the Maylands Town Centre by providing a strong social, cultural, recreational and civic hub that is welcoming and accessible to all community members".
"The project was designed and constructed within 18 months and was an example of what can be achieved through Council and the City's officers working in close partnership with the professional dedicated Pindan site and office staff involved in the project", he said.
