This valuable service helps HACC eligible clients to maintain their independence at home and assists them with errands outside the home. This volunteer based program allows clients the freedom to continue with day to day activities and offers opportunities to remain engaged with the community at large.
A volunteer may visit for a cuppa, perhaps play a game, spend time in the garden, read to the client or simply enjoy a chat together.
A volunteer may take the client for a drive or a stroll in the park. The volunteer may also take the client out to the local shops for a browse and cup of tea or to the bank and post office for banking, bill paying and posting letters.
A volunteer accompanies the client for food shopping and assists with finding and selecting items, reaching items from shelves, and carrying shopping to the car and into the client's home. The volunteer may also assist with putting items away if required.
