City's Strategic Community Plan to

Posted on April 28, 2017
The City of Bayswater is a step closer to delivering on its community's vision for the future as the consultation phase of its Strategic Community Plan draws to a close.

Mayor Barry McKenna said the development of a vision will help inform the City's decision making.

"Our vision reflects what our community values and helps us prioritise the delivery of services and programs.

"In developing a vision for the City we actively engaged our community by conducting our 'Let's Talk' survey in locations across the City. Our staff volunteered to visit local shopping centres, sporting facilities and events to survey community members about what makes them proud to live in Bayswater as well as things we could do better.

"A whopping 1185 people completed the in-person and online survey.

"Feedback indicated that residents loved living in Bayswater for its café strips, wetland areas, proximity to the City, well maintained streets, events, parks and gardens, town centres and sense of community.

"Areas for the City to focus on included its tree canopy, parking, supporting local business, advocating for improved transport links and protecting and enhancing the character and heritage of the City.

"Feedback received during the consultation phase has now been incorporated into the City's revised Strategic Community Plan. The Strategic Plan will underpin the City's Corporate Business Plan and Long-Term Financial Plan."

The public comment period for the revised Strategic Community Plan will close on Monday 8 May. A comment form can be accessed via the City's engagement portal enagage.bayswater.wa.gov.au or by contacting the City on 9272 0622. The Plan will be formally considered by Council in May.
