Volunteers are the heart and the soul of our club

Posted on August 09, 2015

I would like to congratulate the Noranda Senior Football Club and WA Cricket Club for the Blind, volunteer, Fay Cotter, for receiving 2015 Blue Ribbon Club Awards, at the Summer Clubs Conference on Monday.

The awards recognised volunteers who are the heart and the soul of our local sporting clubs.

Noranda Senior Football Club took out the Club of the Year prize, for their active role in the community and finessing the clubs management, which has resulted in premiership victory.

While WA Cricket Club for the Blind, volunteer, Fay Cotter received the Volunteer of the Year Award for her tireless work ensuring new members are being recruited. She was instrumental in maintaining the grounds, coordinating the fixtures and looking after fundraising.

The awards were held as part of the City’s Blue Ribbon Club program, which assists local sporting clubs and volunteers to improve their skills and knowledge and was funded by the Department of Sport and Recreation.

Councillor Terence G Kenyon, JP
