Over 4000 people attended the free Avon Descent Finish Line Family Fun Day held on Sunday at the picturesque Riverside Gardens.
The glorious weather attracted families that ventured out and spent a day in the sunshine checking out a range of activities for the young and the old. Some of the highlights included fairy fun, bouncy castles, face painting and crafting bottomless boats. Some very speedy kids then raced against each other in their creations.
The event featured lots of great entertainment, and also live commentary of the water action.
This is the 43rd year that the Avon Descent race has been run, and the City is fortunate enough to have been involved for many years hosting the Finish Line event. The event wouldn’t be possible without the help and the support of the local community, staff and vendors.
A huge thank you to our community groups who volunteered on the day: bar services, Maylands Sport & Recreation Club (Inc); overnight security, Bayswater State Emergency Service; waste management, Noranda Women's Football Club; parking marshalling, Amazons Perth Dragon Boat Club.
We would absolutely love to see all of your photos from the day, so make sure you share them on our Facebook page!
