Winter planting program

Posted on June 02, 2017
As winter fast approaches, our annual tree planting program is already underway. As part of this ongoing initiative we will be putting around 1,000 new trees into the ground to further enhance our City's streetscapes and parks.

Of those thousand trees around 500 will line our streets, 300 will go into parks and reserves, and another 200 will go into the verges outside the homes of residents who have requested a free street tree. If you don’t currently have a tree on your verge, I encourage you to apply.

The planting program represents part of our reinvigorated commitment to our Garden City ethos and our vision for a greener City of Bayswater. It is creating an enhanced living environment for our residents and ratepayers.

Trees are an important community asset and to help grow our City's tree canopy, over the last few months, Council has been working with the community to develop an Urban Forest Strategy.

The draft of the strategy is currently being advertised for public comment and can be viewed on the City's online community engagement portal: http://engage.bayswater.wa.gov.au.

I want to urge you to get involved and have your say on the Urban Forest Strategy. Submissions close at 4pm on Friday 2 June.
