As I come to the end of my tenure as a City of Bayswater Councillor I want to reflect on what a privilege it has been to represent the people of my electorate and the wider city.
As one of the Councillor's for South Ward I was fortunate enough to have Maylands and parts of Mt Lawley to watch over; these are dynamic suburbs filled with progressive businesses, talented artists, beautiful buildings and wonderful people.
I have a long association with Maylands in particular and it has been great to see this area evolve over the years into a thriving, dynamic town centre that boasts great cafes and eateries; an increasingly walkable neighbourhood; and a wide range of new housing choices.
While on Council, I have seen many high quality apartment buildings go up in the Maylands area. These have brought added vibrancy to the town centre as new residents seek local services and take advantage of the leisure and recreation opportunities available on their doorsteps.
As I come to the end of my term, I want to sincerely thank the community and my colleagues on Council for their support over the last four years.
