What could be better than family friendly fun with an educational message at its heart?
A highlight of the City's annual events calendar, the Evening in the Park is taking place at Bert Wright Park and the Bayswater Library on Friday, March 24.
The event is a free family friendly mini festival which encourages children to engage with the community and develop their creativity through language and the arts.
Mayor Barry McKenna said the event was a date for the diary and something for families to look forward to.
"Evening in the Park sees Bert Wright Park and the Bayswater Library come alive with activities and is a great night out for the whole family," Mayor McKenna said.
"This year we're also lucky enough to be partnering with the clever people at Awesome Arts who will activate all sorts of fun activities for children to take part in.
”It's important for children to engage with the arts; they don’t just develop a child’s creativity - the skills they learn because of them spill over into all kinds of academic and life achievements.
"Events such as this are an important part of the fabric that brings a community together and at the City of Bayswater we are fortunate enough to have an abundance of parks and gardens to enjoy them in."
This year there will be food vans, live music and entertainment, books, face painting and several Awesome Arts activations including The Smooth Sound Band, Postcards to Seniors, a Better Beginnings Books-to-Go Cubby, Tree Projections and animal workshops.
The evening kicks off at 6pm on Friday March 24, so be sure to pack your picnic basket and head down for a night of family fun.
