Time for Play

Posted on July 27, 2017

Council is currently looking at developing and implementing a City wide 'Play Space' strategy from 2017 to 2019.

Currently our playgrounds are replaced on a like for like basis, once play equipment has reached the end of its usable life, which is around 15 years.

The proposed 'Play Space' strategy is part of our 2017 to 2021 Corporate Business Plan and provides an opportunity to review how we plan, design and manage future play spaces so they are innovative, fit for purpose and meet the needs of our community.

The strategy will be developed in consultation with the community taking into account industry trends, existing facilities, differing types of play equipment and population demographics.

We invite your input on this as we develop the strategy over the next six to nine months.

It's important that our children have spaces outdoors to play which suit their needs and this strategy embraces that idea wholeheartedly.
