Earlier this year Council appointed our new CEO, Andrew Brien, with a mandate to reduce red tape and look at how we can provide innovative, cost effective and customer focussed services to our community.
As a first step, Mr Brien has committed to an internal efficiency review of the services provided by the City. This will seek some quick and effective wins by reducing duplication, removing unnecessary red tape and bureaucracy, and enabling our workforce to deliver quality services.
The focus of the review will not be just about reducing costs, although that may be an outcome, but about using the resources we have wisely and in an effective way to meet community aspirations.
Another area that our CEO will focus on is improving corporate reporting. This will help Council assess performance against the goals set out in our Community Strategic, Corporate Business and Long Term Financial plans.
Committed to transparency, Mr Brien has also decided to publish his Key Performance Indicators online so that the community can track and judge his achievements. Council will work with Mr Brien on developing those indicators.
Change is underway and it is an exciting time to be a part of the City of Bayswater story.
