Children's Book Week a flight of fancy

Posted on August 11, 2017
Encouraging children's love of books as well as dressing up, Book Week 2017 is fast approaching at the City of Bayswater Libraries.

This year's Children's Book Council of Australia theme is 'Escape to Everywhere' and is aimed at igniting children's imaginations while also celebrating Australian authors and illustrators.

The City's Libraries are hosting a series of extra special story times in honour of Book Week which runs from August 19 to 26.

Get ready for fire breathing dragons, pampered princesses and fancy fairy godmothers at Maylands Library as Rock and Toddle present Fairy tale Friends.

Then be amazed at the Bayswater Library as Sparkles and her pet rabbit puppet Hamish put on an interactive comedy magic show.

At the Morley Library, Josephine will present a musical story time followed by super fun balloon twisting.

"A life-long love of books and reading is a very important skill to learn," Mayor Barry McKenna said.

"We're proud to support Book Week 2017 and hope local children will enjoy the theme and the many activities we have at our Libraries."
