Excited residents flocked to the Civic Centre last night to take part in the City's annual Rates Incentive Prize Draw.
The prize draw is for residents who paid their rates in full by August 4 - this year 47 prizes were awarded - the first prize was a brand new Holden Barina from Metro Motors Holden, won by Ferdinand and Luciana Gere of Noranda.
A host of fantastic prizes were up for grabs including travel vouchers from Helloworld Morley, cash prizes from National Australia Bank and vouchers from Galleria to name but a few.
There were also memberships on offer from some of the City's most popular recreation centres including Bayswater Waves, The RISE and two catered skate parties from Morley Rollerdrome.
Bayswater Mayor Barry McKenna said the annual prize draw was a chance for the City to say thank you to those who pay their rates on time.
"Council's early collection of rates is 22.69 per cent of the total charges raised, resulting in more than $14.7 million being collected within a three week period," Mayor McKenna said.
"That's a great result. It means we can earn extra interest to help fund more than 200 services and programs that the City provides to its ratepayers and residents.
"And in the present day economic climate, that extra income really does make a difference.
"I'd also like to say congratulations to the winners of our car Mr and Mrs Gere of Noranda and all of the winners who attended our function last night.
"And of course to our very generous sponsors, we couldn't make this prize draw happen without their ongoing sponsorship."
