Food trucks set to serve at Riverside locations

Posted on September 15, 2017
Coffee and culturally diverse cuisine will soon be on the menu at two top riverside locations. The move follows Council’s decision last night to add Clarkson Reserve in Maylands and Claughton Reserve in Bayswater to the City’s list of approved food truck locations.

Bayswater Mayor Barry McKenna said the City expanded the number of existing locations in consultation with food truck owners.

“We asked existing permit holders which locations they wanted to see added to the list. Clarkson and Claughton Reserves were clear stand outs. Their picturesque riverside locations offer huge potential.

“In Clarkson Reserve in Maylands tennis club users will surely delight in the chance to indulge in a range of tasty food options including Vietnamese pork buns, traditional Italian pizzas and Indian curries – to name a few.

“While the gaggle of morning joggers who complete the 8am Maylands Peninsula Park Run every Saturday morning would surely welcome a barista made coffee.

“Boating enthusiasts can access Claughton Reserve via the boat ramp and drop by for a quick bite to eat while taking a squiz at the City’s newest tourist hot spot – a toilet crafted in the shape of a turtle.

Mayor McKenna said food trucks have been a huge hit since the City introduced its Mobile Food Vehicles Policy in June last year.

“Mobile food trucks have breathed new life into our parks and reserves, making them a focal point for people to gather, exercise and experience some wonderful multicultural cuisine.

“With spring upon us, now is the time to get together with family and friends, and enjoy some of the City’s most beautiful locations without the hassle of packing a picnic.

“With 30 approved food truck permit holders in the City there is something to tempt even the hardest critic. From Dutch stroop waffles and Indian samosas to German bratwurst and everything in between. There are a plethora of multicultural treats on offer at locations across our wonderful City.
