City committee encourages you to 'Have a Go'

Posted on October 06, 2017
Do you care about what happens in your community and want to make sure everyone, no matter their background, feels included?

If you do, then you could be the perfect candidate to take part in the City of Bayswater's Have a Go Day 2018 committee.

The City is now looking for committee members for the annual community event which is held every autumn.

The day features a wide range of exhibitions and 'Have a Go' activities including Frisbee. Music, taekwondo, tennis, scale modelling, art, dancing and yoga to name a few and is facilitated by local community groups and clubs.

"Have a Go Day aims to increase participation in community groups and assist local clubs and groups to be more inclusive for all," Mayor Barry McKenna said.

"It's important that people in our community know that there is a rich culture of clubs and community groups in Bayswater they can join to be a part of our wonderful City; whether they've just moved here or they've lived here for a lifetime and no matter what their age or background is.

"We're now calling for inspired and passionate committee members who can really help make a difference to this event."
Have a Go Day Committee members will be required from October 2017 to May 2018.
The Committee plays an integral role in the development of the Have a Go Day event, with members helping to guide event coordination, assist with promotion, recruit club and community groups and assist with logistics.
The City is currently seeking the following representatives for the committee; local residents; community groups; sport and recreation clubs; and professionals from the community and recreation sector.
Potential committee members should have an interest in improving participation in community groups and clubs; have the ability to attend monthly meetings and do some work between meetings; and be willing to promote the event and share information with their networks.
