Keep #Baysie Green

Posted on November 09, 2017

The City of Bayswater is committed to working towards a sustainable future.

Waste has a negative impact on our local environment so it's important, as a community, we recycle where practicable.

Diverting green waste from landfill via our fortnightly green waste collection is one way we can reduce our impact on the environment.

The City's fortnightly kerbside green waste bin service is provided in addition to the City's household rubbish and recycling collections.

The service provides residents with the opportunity to recycle their garden prunings and clippings.

Grass clippings, leaves, small prunings, flowers, weeds, branches (less than 3cm and no longer than 30cm) can all be put into your 240 litre bin with the lime green lid.

Item such as Glass, plastic bags, paper, household rubbish, plant pots, sand, soil and rubble should not be placed in your green waste bin as they contaminate the green waste and prevent it from being effectively recycled.

The collected green waste is taken to the Red Hill Composting Facility where it is turned into mulch and soil conditioner. These products can be used to help minimise evaporation from the garden and therefore assist in reducing water usage.
