Australia Day is an important day on the City of Bayswater's event calendar.
Not only is it our National Day, it's also a day where we welcome the newest members of our community at our Australia Day Community Barbecue and Citizenship Ceremony.
The City will officially name the 2018 Australia Day WA Citizen of the Year Award, WA Senior Citizen of the Year Award and the WA Active Citizenship of the Year Award on the day.
"Australia Day can mean different things to different people," Mayor Dan Bull said.
"On Australia Day we recognise the importance of inclusion, as well as what it means to be an Australian and contribute to the local community, we also welcome our newest citizens at a special Citizenship Ceremony.
"Our community barbecue has become a much loved event on the City's social calendar and really is a day to stop and reflect on what being Australian means to you.
"Whether you spend your Australia Day with family, at the beach, enjoying a barbecue with friends, or a picnic on the bank of our glorious Swan River, Australia Day is different for everyone.
"But there's nothing better than starting the day with a sausage sizzle, so we invite the community to come down and celebrate this day with us on the lawns of the Civic Centre."
The Australia Day community barbecue event gets under way at 8.30am on Australia Day at the Civic Centre (61 Broun Avenue). There are lots of fun activities to enjoy from live music, to camel rides and face painting for the kids.
Everyone is welcome to attend this free event.
