Priority actions identified as part of the Noranda Activation Plan included developing a program of local events and assisting in the establishment of a community-led group, the Noranda Vibes Town Team, to work on a range of initiatives designed to add vibrancy to the town centre.
On May 5, with the support of the City, the Noranda Vibes Team has organised a free Bush Dance at the Robert Thomson Reserve that will include live music, food stalls and other attractions. Grassroots driven events build a sense of community and can be the glue that holds people together. They also contribute to increasing the profile of Noranda and bringing visitors to the area who in turn support local retailers.
The Noranda Vibes Town Team also has other activities planned, including coffee catch-ups and a barefoot bowls sundowner this week. To find out more, visit the team's Facebook page @whatsnextnoranda
It would be great to see the community supporting these events.
