I am delighted to announce the City's new ninja-warrior style obstacle course at Russell Park in the Morley CBD is now open. The delivery of a central park in the heart of the Morley CBD is the result of a partnership between the owners of the site, the Water Corporation, and the City of Bayswater. It is a testament to what can be achieved when two organisations work together to deliver a positive outcome for the community. The site was previously a disused stormwater drain that was fenced off from the public.
I am confident the 10-station obstacle course, complete with a ninja-warrior style wall, will be a hit with the young and young at heart.
The City has delivered the ninja-warrior style obstacle course after obtaining an $87,000 grant from Lotterywest. The Department of Biodiversity, Attractions and Conservation also contributed $50,000 towards the conversion of the area alongside the existing drainage basin into a series of living streams that will improve existing water quality, biodiversity and work to green the area.
Russell Street Park was identified by a Master Plan prepared by the City as vital to the revitalisation of the Morley City Centre.
I would encourage you to get along and take a look.
