It's no secret that we love verge gardens in Bayswater. With so many beautiful waterwise verges in our neighbourhoods, it's easy to see why the City of Bayswater has been praised as 'Australia's most progressive and forward thinking verge gardening municipality'.
Not only do verge gardens look fantastic, they require less water and often less maintenance than traditional lawn verges. Since the City's red tape busting verge policy was adopted we're seeing even more verges transformed – just a short walk through streets in Maylands and Bayswater provides dozens of great examples.
The City is offering a free Verge Gardening Workshop on Saturday 9 June. Hosted by The Forever Project, this workshop will show you how to design your verge garden, select the right plants and mulches, and keep it looking great year-round. We're expecting this workshop to be popular, so please RSVP by calling 9272 0654.
There's also still time to collect your ten native plants from Environment House as part of the Plants to Residents program. Many of these plants are ideal for your verge, and a $4 donation to Environment House is all that is required. Please don't forget to bring along proof of residency to claim your plants.
