More options will soon be available to Bayswater residents for disposing unwanted household and garden waste. From August, residents will have access to a new green waste bulk bin service and on-call mattress and whitegoods collection. These initiatives will help us reduce the amount of waste ending up in landfill.
The green waste bulk bin can be used to dispose of things like lawn clippings, branches, weeds and any other green matter, which means there will be no need to stockpile waste after a big garden clean-up. Even better, the waste collected in these bins will be mulched and reused. The green waste bulk bin will be available to order online in the same way the blue general waste bulk bins are ordered.
The previous refrigerator collection service will be expanded to include all whitegoods and mattresses. Residents will be able to request two free collections from their home per year by contacting the City – far more convenient than visiting the tip.
I encourage you to keep an eye out for your new 2018/19 Waste and Recycling Guide, which will be in mailboxes during July. This guide includes a handy A to Z guide on recycling, waste reduction tips, bin collection days and more.
