Council employs a team of Environmental Health Officers (EHOs) to ensure that food is of the standard expected by consumers and that it has been prepared and sold to a high standard of hygiene. In order to achieve this, EHOs conduct regular food premises inspections and undertake sampling programs to test the microbiological and chemical standard of food.
EHO's also undertake a wide range of premises inspections including public buildings, food premises, swimming pools, hairdressers, skin penetration establishments (eg tattooists), beauty salons, child care centres and industrial premises to ensure compliance with legislation.
The Environmental Health Section also administers Council's immunisation and emergency management programs.
