GRAFFITI REMOVAL

Graffiti can be unsightly and offensive and where unauthorised, are considered to be acts of vandalism.
Council spends over $150,000 each year on the removal of graffiti and the City’s dedicated team of graffiti removalists are committed to cleaning off graffiti as soon after it has been noticed or reported as possible.

Removal of Graffiti from Council or Private Property

Under the City’s Graffiti Vandalism policy, Council will clean, remove or cover any graffiti on buildings, fences and structures that:

• are within or constitute boundaries of all reserves under the care and control of the City of Bayswater including, but not exclusively, parks, reserves, public access ways and road reserves; and
• form an external perimeter to a private property which does not necessarily align with the property boundary common to a reserve.

Where the graffiti covers a fence, wall or building on a shared boundary with a private property or reserve, or is within the private property or reserve under the care and control of another authority, the adjacent landowner must provide permission for the graffiti to be removed prior to cleaning, removing or covering.

Where the graffiti covers a fence, wall or building on a shared boundary with a private property or reserve, or is within the private property or reserve under the care and control of another authority, the adjacent landowner must indemnify Council against all actions, claims, damages, costs and expenses whatsoever resulting from the graffiti removal activity.  (This does not include workers compensation cover of Council employees or Councillors.)
