The Bird Makers Project is a global initiative devised by Raewyn Hill and Naoko Yoshimoto with Co:3 Australia, WA's premier contemporary dance company.
The City of Bayswater is inviting residents to participate in a unique opportunity to connect with each other whilst engaging in a purposeful and creative activity.
Participants will be guided in creating a single black bird made from their own donated piece of black clothing/fabric*, and asked to provide a few words on either their personal experience whilst in COVID – 19 isolation; migrating to WA; or simply expressing what birds represent to them.
The birds will be collected to represent the stories, memories and histories of people from all backgrounds in Western Australia today. These birds and their stories will come together to become the set for Co:3 Australia’s main stage production in 2021!
*Participants are required to bring an unwanted black garment or black fabric. If you are unable to bring your own black garment or fabric, please email community.services@bayswater.wa.gov.au by no later than Monday 21 September. Co:3 have a limited supply of spare material that you may be able to use.
Please note: attendees must be aged 10 years or over, and parent/guardian consent is required for all attendees between the ages of 10 and 18 years.
Tea, coffee and biscuits will be provided.
