  • OVERVIEW

Want to see what happens to your recyclables once your yellow bin is collected? Come on a tour of Cleanaway's state-of-the-art Materials Recovery Facility (MRF) in South Guildford, and watch your recycling be sorted for reprocessing.

    You'll get to see:

    • Cardboard bailers
    • Optical sorters that sort hard plastics into five different polymers for bailing
    • Bounce and ballistic conveyers to sort paper products
    • Separation of glass into two sizes
    • Sorting of aluminium and steel cans

Plus, see where your local recycling goes and why it's important to recycle as best we can.

This tour is free and available to City of Bayswater residents.

    Safety considerations and requirements

    • Enclosed footwear, long sleeves and pants are required.
    • Hard hats and HiVis vests will be provided.
    • Attendees will need to walk up five flights of stairs, unaided, to get to Cleanaway's education room.
    • The equipment at the MRF includes an eddy current and strong magnet. Those with pacemakers should be aware of this.
    • Children must be over 10 years of age to attend.

Complimentary transport will be provided, leaving from the bus bay on Drake Street adjacent to the City of Bayswater Civic Centre (61 Broun Avenue, Morley). The bus will leave at 9.30am sharp to ensure arrival at Cleanaway on time.

Can I meet the tour at the facility in Guildford? Unfortunately not, as there is not sufficient parking at the facility to allow for this.  All tour attendees need to take the bus to and from the Civic Centre and the facility.

    Register now.
