With National Volunteer Week approaching, it's a good time for us all to reflect on how we contribute to our community. No matter how big or small, any time given to others can make a real impact.

There are so many benefits to becoming a volunteer. For some, it's about making a difference to the lives of people around them. For others, it's a chance to build social connections and develop new skills. Volunteering is even known to boost your career prospects.

Volunteering extends across all areas of our community, from events and the arts to disability and emergency services. You can teach English at the City's Libraries, become a volunteer bus driver, or help people learn basic computer skills. There really are endless ways to share your knowledge and experience with others.

To celebrate National Volunteer Week, the City will be offering free training and information sessions. The first session, Mindset Booster, will be held on Monday, 20 May from 2pm at the City of Bayswater Civic Centre. Visit the City's Facebook page to find out more.
