Morley Town Centre is now home to a pint-sized park featuring seating, paths, a deck, lighting and greenery. The 130 square metre space between Chatters and Aussie Home Loans on Progress Street has undergone a $65k transformation thanks to a partnership between the City and local group The Morley Momentum.

Progress Street Pocket Park officially opened with a community celebration on Thursday 5 December.

Mayor Dan Bull said the pocket park was a welcome addition to the Morley Town Centre.

“Space is at a premium in busy retail precincts like Morley, so we need to think differently about how we can get the most out of underused public areas.

“As the connection between Coventry Village and Galleria Shopping Centre, Progress Street is an ideal spot for shoppers to take some time out, meet up with friends and for local workers to have lunch

“Progress Street Pocket Park provides a slice of green sanctuary in the middle of a bustling urban area.

“The deck can be used as seating or a stage for street performers. The addition of an accessible filtered water fountain, brightly coloured bike racks and festoon lights have made the space even more welcoming.

“I look forward to seeing Progress Street Pocket Park used for small community events, activities and gatherings.”

The Progress Street Pocket Park project is jointly funded by the City of Bayswater and the Federal Government through a Stronger Communities Grant secured by The Morley Momentum. More seating and signage will be added over the next few months.
