The countdown to Avon Descent is on, with less than six weeks until the big event. Competitors will start the gruelling 124 km marathon race in Northam and finish at Bayswater's picturesque Riverside Gardens, cheered on by families, friends and spectators.
The City of Bayswater will keep the crowd entertained once again this year with our popular Finish Line Event on Sunday 4 August. Food trucks, market stalls, free entertainment and kids activities will be on offer from 11am to 6pm. Even if you don't know anyone participating in the race, I encourage you to come down and soak up the exciting atmosphere.
If you're adventurous enough to take part in the race, you've got until Thursday 18 July to register. The Avon Descent is the only white-water event that brings power and paddle crafts together in the same race. You can choose to compete in the one or two day race by power dinghy, canoe, kayak, stand up paddle board, ski boat and more. Visit avondescent.com.au for more information and register.
