Funding commitment for Maylands Waterland.
In exciting news for local families, the Federal Member for Perth has committed $1.5 million in funding to Maylands Waterland. The announcement brings us a big step closer to upgrading this much-loved water playground.
Maylands Waterland is completely unique, with no other facility like it in Perth. It's no surprise this playground holds a special place in the heart of our community. Children have learned to swim and gain confidence around water here for decades, and this funding will help ensure this tradition continues for future generations.
I would like to acknowledge the hard work of community group Friends of Maylands Waterland, whose dedication has been key to finding a solution.
With fresh momentum, we've established a working group to look more closely at what a revitalised Maylands Waterland could look like. The group includes residents, Councillors, City staff and members of the Friends of Maylands Waterland group. There will be an opportunity for the wider community to give input too, so keep an eye on the City's Engage Bayswater portal as the project develops.
