The City is offering free exercise classes to residents aged 50 and over as part of its new Fit for Life program. The six week program will include yoga, indoor carpet bowls, circuit sessions, tai chi, and line dancing at the Morley and Bayswater Community Centres. Sessions are tailored to the needs of older adults, with a focus on improving balance, flexibility, coordination, strength and overall mobility.

City of Bayswater Mayor Dan Bull encouraged the community to get involved.

"The City is keen to improve access to quality fitness programs for residents close to home.

"Looking after our health becomes even more important as we get older. By improving our strength and balance now, we reduce our risk of falls and injuries later in life.

"Whether you’re just starting out, or looking to get back into exercise, Fit for Life is a great way to try-out the range of fitness programs offered by the City without any ongoing commitment.

"Classes will be professionally run, social, and most importantly, fun."

Fit for Life starts on Monday 29 April with a gentle yoga class at Morley Community Centre. A celebratory morning tea will be held at the end of the six week program on 4 June at Morley Community Centre and 5 June at Bayswater Community Centre.

Residents are invited to register for Fit for Life by contacting the Bayswater Community Centre on 9271 5198 or the Morley Community Centre on 9276 6108.
