Community Centres reopen in line with WA roadmap - Phase 4
Jun 29 2020

Both Bayswater and Morley Community Centre will reopen on July 1 following the State Government's announcement to ease COVID-19 restrictions through Phase 4 of the WA roadmap.

Under the new phase, the City will be reopening the community centres with many scheduled activities including walking groups, bowls, yoga and more recommencing.

Measures will remain in place to ensure the safety of older adults and selected activities that cannot comply with appropriate social distancing will remain on hold until further notice.

Mayor Dan Bull said the City was excited to reconnect with the senior community in person, but the health and safety of all members, staff and volunteers would remain a priority.

"It's very exciting to be able to welcome our senior residents back into the Bayswater and Morley Community Centres, with hygiene and social distancing measures remaining in place," Cr Bull said.

"These centres are a place where older adults can gather to socialise, participate in group activities and enjoy a sense of belonging and community.

"During the closures, our Community Care team continued to foster the sense of community over the phone to ensure all 850 members felt heard and supported. In fact, the team made more than 4000 calls and spent 700 hours on the phone chatting with the community."
