Young people in the heart of the inner east will have the chance to learn useful life skills to prepare them for entering employment.

Next month, the City of Bayswater's How to Adult event series will kick off with two workshops for people aged 12-25 who may be looking to start their journey into the workforce or refresh their skills.

The first workshop on Wednesday July 8 at 4-5.30pm, will take participants through a range of hints and tips for job hunting, while the second, on Thursday July 9 at 4-5.30pm, will focus on resume writing.

City of Bayswater Mayor Dan Bull said the employment workshops were an excellent opportunity for young people to turn their passions into a career or even embark on a job change.

"The City's How to Adult workshops are a great way for young people to learn the necessary life skills needed to start a career or find a new job," Cr Bull said.

"There are many different career paths available to young people in our community and the workshops will help them to feel more prepared and confident about entering the workforce.

"I would encourage all young people to get involved, meet some likeminded people and learn some new professional skills."

As part of this event series, the City will also present a herbal tea workshop on Wednesday July 15 from 2.30-4.00pm, and a bread making workshop on Thursday July 16 from 3.00-4.30pm.

These two workshops aim to encourage young people to enjoy cooking and learn the basic skills behind preparing their own food to ensure a healthy lifestyle.

The How to Adult program runs throughout the school holidays each year, bookings are essential. As the safety of our community and staff is our top priority, social distancing and hygiene measures will remain in place.
