In response to escalating community concern regarding the spread of Coronavirus (COVID-19) following its declaration as a pandemic by the World Health Organisation, the City of Bayswater has taken the following steps:

The City is working to ensure the safety of its staff and community members.

The City is working closely with the WA Health Department and is making decisions based on their advice.

The City has advised staff not to attend work if they have cold or flu symptoms or fit any of the self-quarantine criteria outlined by the Department.

In response to the Prime Minister, the Hon Scott Morrison’s advice on 16 March 2020 against holding non-essential, organised public gatherings of more than 500 people the City has cancelled its three upcoming City led community events.

These are:
Maylands Twilight Markets at Bardon Park on Saturday 14 March 2020
Evening in the Park at Bert Wright Park in Bayswater on Saturday 21 March 2020
Explore.Discover.Connect. Carnival at The RISE on Sunday 5 April 2020.

The City has a Business Continuity Plan which will be activated, as required, in response to any impacts associated with COVID-19.

The City is placing signage at all community facilities such as its libraries, Bayswater Waves, The Rise and community centres reminding community members not to enter the facilities if they have recently returned from a country considered high risk by the Department of Health, are felling unwell or have been in close contact with a proven case of COVID-19.
