Coronavirus (COVID-19) update
Mar 26 2020

“The City is working hard to do what it can to reduce the spread of the Coronavirus (COVID-19).

“Given the rapidly changing situation, City staff are assessing all new information on a daily basis.

“On Friday at 4.30pm the City will close its customer service counters at its Civic Centre at 61 Broun Avenue, Morley for the foreseeable future.

“The closure is in line with the social distancing measures announced recently by the Prime Minister, the Hon Scott Morrison, and his earlier ban on non-essential indoor gatherings of more than 100 people.

“Many of our customers are elderly so the risk to them and our front line staff now is just too high. We don’t want to unnecessarily put them in harm’s way.

“We understand that the closure of our customer service facilities will create difficulties for some of our residents.

“We encourage you to call us on 9272 0622, email us at mail@bayswater.wa.gov.au or message us on Facebook. We will respond to your enquiries as soon as we can.

“All payment including rates, infringement and crossovers can be made over the phone or online via the City’s website.

“Tip passes can be ordered by calling or emailing the City and will be posted to residents.

“Bulk bins can be ordered by phone, email or on the City’s website.

“Building and development applications can be submitted by email.

“I’d like to assure you that our customer service officers are still on hand to handle your enquiries by phone or email.

“Under exceptional circumstances, residents can make an appointment to meet with a customer service staff member but we ask that you call ahead to book a time.

“Signage will be displayed at the City’s Civic Centre advising of the closure and providing alternative ways for community members to contact the City.

“We believe these measures are necessary to protect the community and our staff.

“We are currently looking at ways to provide more of our services online."
