As part of its local stimulus package, the City has invested $400,000 to bring forward upgrades of two of its parks.

Mayor Dan Bull said, "The City has fast-tracked planned makeovers of two much-loved parks, as part of our $5.09 million local economic and social stimulus package.

"Alf Brooks Park in Bayswater and Belstead Reserve in Noranda now feature brand new play equipment; improved gardens; new seating; a focus on shade; and wider, better connected pathways.

"At Belstead Reserve, we have installed two pieces of play equipment for children with disability, which are wheelchair accessible. Alf Brooks has received an upgraded half court for basketball and netball, with a new shade sail coming soon.

"This work is part of our Play Space Strategy and Park Redevelopment Program, which guides improvements to the City's many playgrounds; skate parks; sporting courts; gardens; and park furniture and exercise equipment.

"Improvements are directed by community priorities, which include diverse play experiences, better connected pathways, plenty of shade and seating, and synergy with the natural landscape.

"Our residents highly value their local parks, and we have been proud to work with residents living around Alf Brooks and Belstead Reserve, to include features that are important to them.

"This work also shows our commitment to support an active community, and a greener City."
