Council also approved for the City to seek community feedback on a permanent part-time closure of Lyric Lane for alfresco dining and events.

Mayor Dan Bull said this work is part of the City's commitment to activating its four major town centres.

"The City has worked with the community to develop place activation plans to improve its town centres. One of the priorities for the Maylands town centre is turning its laneways into interesting places for people to visit, be entertained, and to support our local businesses.

"We have recently enhanced Lyric Lane in partnership with laneway businesses Australian Development Capital, Lyric Lane and Rossonero Pizzeria. This included closing it to vehicles; installing art, greenery, lighting and a sound system; and holding an alfresco dining trial.

"We are now keen to hear from the community about making the alfresco dining permanent, as well as the ability to hold community events in the laneway.

"Lyric Lane will be used as a model for future laneway improvements, and the City will seek input from the community on which laneways they would like to see activated, and what types of improvements they would like made.

"We will keep you updated on this work, and I encourage you to visit Lyric Lane before the alfresco dining trial finishes."

The Lyric Lane alfresco dining trial involving Rossonero Pizzeria and Lyric Lane is happening from 5pm Fridays, and 2pm Saturdays-Sundays until early October.
