The City’s highly anticipated summer events season kicks off this month with Christmas markets and Carols by Candlelight at some of Bayswater’s favourite outdoor venues.

The 2021/22 series takes in eight free, family-friendly events from December to March.

Following the City’s Christmas Markets at Maylands Foreshore Reserve this Saturday 4 December, a Carols by Candlelight event on 18 December is expected to draw crowds eager to take part in the beloved tradition.

Candles will be available for purchase on the night, thanks to Battery World Morley, with all proceeds going to Orana House, the City’s partner for the 2021 Annual Food Appeal. Orana House provides accommodation, advocacy and support for women and children experiencing family and domestic violence.

The highlight of the event season will be the Baywater Community Concert on 5 February at Morley’s Pat O’Hara Reserve.

Pack a picnic with your favourites or purchase from a range of food trucks.

National singer-songwriter Dami Im will take to the stage, with Perth local Siobhan Cotchin as the support act, in what is sure to be a hit with families from around the City and beyond.

Mayor Filomena Piffaretti said the ever-popular summer events program was much loved by City residents.

“Our summer events are a fantastic way to celebrate the festive season and the start of a new year,” she said.

"Attending our summer events provides a great opportunity to gather your family and friends and spend quality time together, enjoying some of the wonderful parks our City has to offer.

"I encourage everyone to get along to as many of the events as possible.”

In the new year, residents can look forward to events such as Summer Markets and a BBQ Breakfast to coincide with Citizen of the Year awards.

City residents will also be invited to pick a flick as part of the family-favourite Movie in the Park, before cultural activities take centre stage at Evening in the Park.

As the final event of the summer program, this event showcases the multicultural diversity that enriches our community, with live music and food from around the world on offer.
