City funding sows seed for town centre projects

The City invites the community to submit proposals for funding to enhance its town centres, as part of its Placemaking Seed Funding Program.

City funding sows seed for town centre projects
Oct 04 2021

The City is offering an easy way to get community-led initiatives up and running in its town centres, with financial support from its Placemaking Seed Funding Program.

Under the program, locals can send their innovative ideas for projects that will enhance town centres in Maylands, Morley, Bayswater or Noranda, to the City for funding consideration.

The City is looking for projects that will add vibrancy to the public spaces and embrace the City’s Place Activation Plans. This could be an event, a greening project, an arts initiative, street furniture, or form of entertainment or engagement.

The City has been offering the funding since 2017, after engaging with the community and business networks to identify the place making priorities for each town centre. Since then, the City has directed funding towards community-led place activation as part of a collective effort in realising the priorities earmarked in the Plans.

The City will contribute funding amounts of $1,000, $2,000 or $3,000 toward each project.

Past projects supported by seed funding include The Yellow Brick Road artwork project in Maylands, Heritage Walking Tour in Bayswater and Progress Street Pocket Park Launch Party in Morley.

To apply, email your proposal to place.management@bayswater.wa.gov.au by 4pm, Thursday 21 October 2021. No application forms are required.

The City’s Place Activation Plans for each town centre can be viewed at  https://www.bayswater.wa.gov.au/community/town-centres.
