The City has freshened up the Maylands Sport and Recreation Club with a refurbishment of the internal facilities in time for its relaunch, as part of its Community Capital Works program.

The facelift includes upgraded male and female toilets with new storage cupboards and lockers, installation of a new Universal Access Toilet and new access to bathrooms and sports bar. The internal renovations also include a new store room, and a privacy wall to separate the sports bar and main function room.

The City’s works complement other interior upgrades arranged by the Club, including new furniture, curtains, signage, installation of a commercial printer and bar upgrades.

Set amongst the stunning parklands on the Maylands Peninsula, the community hub is home to two dragon boating teams, a darts club, outrigger and canoe club, yoga and Maylands Bowling Club. It also features function spaces available for community hire and sports bar.

Run by a group of dedicated volunteers, the Club’s country feel and inner-City location make it a drawcard for members to unwind, socialise and get active.  The Club celebrated its official re-launch on Sunday 3 October with an Open Day event to welcome the community.
