From Monday 6 September, local artists and emerging creatives will have the opportunity to enter their artwork into the City of Bayswater Community Art Awards.
The annual awards celebrate the work of talented artists who live in the City and beyond, with prizes up for grabs across nine categories.
Works can be submitted in a variety of mediums including watercolour, oil, acrylic, resin, printmaking, photography and sculpture.
City of Bayswater Mayor Dan Bull said the event is a highlight for both artists and community members.
“The City’s annual Community Art Awards support our vibrant art community. It’s the perfect opportunity for established and emerging artists to push their creative boundaries in a welcoming environment,” he said.
“The City’s residents and picturesque surrounds provide a constant source of inspiration for local artists. Local community members will enjoy seeing aspects of their daily life presented in unexpected ways, through art.
“Art is crucial to a thriving and inclusive community– it’s an integral part of the Bayswater community’s DNA, so the Community Art Awards provide the community with a special opportunity to support artists.”
Submissions will be exhibited for two weeks at The RISE in Maylands from Sunday 7 November.
“I would encourage our community to get along to the exhibition and view some of the fabulous works on display. Artworks are also available for purchase.”
Visitors to The RISE will also have the opportunity to vote for their favourite artwork. The most popular entry will take out the Community Bank Bayswater People’s Choice Award category.
Submissions close on Friday 8 October and are limited to one piece per artist.
