Message from the Mayor

Spring is here, so it’s time to shake off winter and start making the most of the warmer weather and all we have to offer right here in the City of Bayswater.

I am excited stage one of the refurbishment of Maylands Waterland is now complete and ready for our community to enjoy, and the new Skate Park at Wotton Reserve is set to open soon. Both of these projects are helping put us on the map and draw people to our City from the wider Perth community.

We recently launched a ‘Visit’ section on the City’s website to encourage people to spend time in our town centres, support local businesses and highlight the individual characters of each town centre. From historic buildings to retro experiences and a thriving music scene, the City really is a destination and we are looking forward to locals and visitors alike getting to know more about what our City has to offer.

The City of Bayswater is well-known for having an artistic community and, as a Council, we love to support the arts in all its forms. This is why we are thrilled to be hosting the North of Perth Music Festival in September, as well as our annual Art Awards and its public exhibition in November. If you are an artist or a fan of the arts, these events are for you, so read on for more details.

I would also like to take this opportunity to remind you about the City’s libraries and all they have to offer. Not only has the public space outside Morley Library been upgraded, thanks to a partnership with RAC, but our libraries are a hub of activities and information - and it’s now even easier to become a member by accessing the QR code on the opposite page.

I look forward to seeing you out and about over the coming months.
