Changing Places improves accessibility at Bayswater Waves
Jun 03 2022

A new accessible Changing Places facility is now available at Bayswater Waves, offering a safe and secure change space for people with disability visiting the pool.

Fitted with a shower bed, ceiling hoist and wall shower, the accredited Changing Places facility is designed to make things easier for people who need assistance using a toilet or changeroom. It is also a suitable space for people who need an area to use specialised medical appliances.

Located next to the hydrotherapy area, the private space is open to family, friends and carers of people with disability, support workers and disability service organisations whose staff accompany clients who require assistance.

The change facility can be accessed by anyone with a WA Companion Card. It is locked using the Master Locksmith Access Key (MLAK) system, which helps maintain privacy and ensure it remains reserved for people who need it.

Those with the MLAK will have universal access to all other accredited Changing Places throughout WA.

The facility was funded through the Australian Government’s Local Roads and Community Infrastructure Program.

The new change facility has been completed as part of a series of upgrades at Bayswater Waves, which has included refurbishment of the 25 metre pool and LED lighting upgrades.

Contact Bayswater Waves on 9276 6538 or email waves@bayswater.wa.gov.au to find out more.
