The City has opened an enclosed dog exercise park at the iconic Riverside Gardens in Bayswater, allowing dogs of all sizes to socialise and play safely off lead.
Located at Riverside Gardens East, the exercise park features separate fenced areas for smaller and larger dogs with dog agility equipment, bins, tennis ball libraries and a connecting pathway from the carpark to the area.
City of Bayswater Mayor Filomena Piffaretti said the new park would encourage dog owners to visit the popular dog destination to safely exercise their pooches.
““We know our residents love dogs, as there are more than 7,600 registered with the City, and Riverside Gardens is one of the community’s favourite places to take them. The new park allows dogs to play without the restrictions of a lead, get some exercise and make friends with other dogs in a safe and secure environment,” she said.
“The fully enclosed exercise area enables owners to exercise and socialise their dogs and helps to promote acceptable behaviour through socialisation with other dogs, especially for training young puppies.
“Based on community feedback, we’ve separated the space into two areas – one for large dogs and one for smaller dogs. Both areas feature agility equipment including weave poles, tunnels, hurdles and natural log play. We have placed waste bins at the park with environmental dog waste bags for added convenience. To ensure the safety of dogs and owners when using the park, the gated area is fitted with an inner and outer double self-closing gate mechanism.
“Tennis ball libraries were installed at the exercise park, for another play option within the area. Two shade shelters have also been installed, providing cover during the wetter months ahead, and shade during summer.”
The park is located at Riverside Gardens East, near Memorial Drive, Bayswater.
