The City of Bayswater Community Art Awards Exhibition is now open, following the announcement of winners at an awards ceremony on Friday 4 November.

Until 19 November, members of the public can visit The RISE in Maylands for a free exhibition of more than 200 artworks entered into this year’s awards. Photography, sculpture and multimedia are just some of the mediums on display.

All artworks are available for purchase, and visitors are encouraged to submit their vote for the Bendigo Bank Bayswater People’s Choice Award to go into the draw to win a $50 voucher for The Seasonal Brewing Co. in Maylands.

Jude Willis was the winner of the Open Award, taking home $5,000 for her mixed media artwork, ‘One Perfect Day’, which was applauded for its beautiful composition and exceptional symbolistic detail.

Crystal Quartermaine received the new Local Whadjuk Award for ‘Seven Sisters’, which judges awarded for its “stunning representation of the Australian landscape and colour palette that would translate to any interior space”. Both artworks will be acquired by the City of Bayswater.

The City introduced the new Local Whadjuk Award category to support the creation of work by local Aboriginal artists and offer Noongar artists the opportunity to share their stories with the broader community.
