Skate, scooter and BMX riders are celebrating wheelie good news as the new City of Bayswater Skate Park opens at Wotton Reserve, Embleton, from Friday 4 November.

The City of Bayswater received $2.5 million from the State Government through METRONET to construct the new skate park, following relocation of the existing facility to make way for the new Morley Station car park.

A highlight of the new Skate Park will be the State’s biggest vert ramp, which is currently being constructed and will launch at an official opening event in December.

Mayor Filomena Piffaretti said she was delighted the City of Bayswater Skate Park was ready for the community to enjoy.

“The amazing new facility will excite skate, scooter and BMX riders across Perth, with a range of elements for beginners through to more experienced riders,” she said.

“We are keen to launch the vert ramp next month, which will be WA’s biggest half-pipe at 3.9 metres high and 13.5 metres wide.

“Another exciting new feature is the extended bowl, offering greater depth and variety for riders of different skill levels.

“A junior plaza including a 3-foot mini ramp has been designed for younger skaters to get started on, before progressing to larger elements within the park.

“Additional skate elements include box jumps, a tabletop combo, a five-stair with rail, and ledges.

“For our BMX riders, we have added intermediate jumps alongside advanced BMX jumps and a return loop for continuous riding.”

The City of Bayswater Skate Park incorporates a dedicated viewing area, as well as shade shelters with hangout zones to watch riders take on the park’s elements.

“We know how important this facility is to our residents, so I’m delighted we’ve been able to provide an outstanding skate and BMX park for families around the City and beyond to enjoy.

“On behalf of the community, I’d like to thank the State Government for helping us deliver this exciting project.”

Preliminary works for the Morley Station car park are set to begin from November 2022.
