Community groups, sporting clubs and individuals can apply to receive up to $5,000 towards projects or programs that benefit the local community, as the City’s Better Bayswater Grant returns in 2023.

With applications open from 1 to 31 March, the City is offering up to half the funds required for initiatives that benefit the community in the areas of health and wellbeing, community connection and support for vulnerable people. Successful applicants can match the City’s contribution with cash or in-kind support, such as volunteer hours.

Last year, the City provided grant funding to Maylands Historical and Peninsula Association to go towards four walking tours exploring the cultural significance and history of key Maylands locations, including the Aerodrome site, Brickworks, Tranby House and Police Compound. The walking tours welcomed visitors to Maylands and proved a fantastic way to be physically active and involved in the local community.

Baigup Wetlands Interest Group also received grant funding for a series of presentations at Enviro House, which invited people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds to learn more about the natural environment and encouraged a sense of belonging in the local community.
