Renovations flowing well at Bayswater Waves
Community recreation facility Bayswater Waves is on track to reopen for summer.
Redevelopment works at Bayswater Waves continue to flow, with the renovated facility on track to open for the coming summer.
The $7.14 million upgrade includes refurbishment of the much-loved wave pool, along with reconfiguration of the foyer and entrance to improve accessibility.
Retiling of the lazy river and wave pool are well underway, with retiled pathways around the pool hall to follow.
A new entrance will include a built-in shop, extra-wide turnstiles and a wheelchair-friendly front desk.
Further accessibility improvements include additional railings around the wave pool and extending and widening indoor and outdoor ramps.
Work continues on expanding the group fitness area, which will allow for an increase in capacity from about 30 patrons to 44 patrons.
The indoor changerooms have also been refurbished with new flooring and waterproofing.
To improve sustainability at the facility, all remaining lights will be upgraded to LEDs, and the current solar PV system will be expanded to include a further 30 panels.
Electrical and IT upgrades also feature as part of the redevelopment, in addition to separating the administration offices from the aquatic activities to ensure all equipment maintains a long life.
