Native flora and fauna inspired mural adds colour to Bedford
A Bedford shopping precinct has sprung to life thanks to an 18-metre mural.
A colourful mural by artist Colin Geary from Aztec Signs and Murals has revitalised the Bedford shopping precinct located at 1070 Beaufort Street.
The 18-metre mural is inspired by the City’s diverse range of flora and fauna, and features the Australian Ringneck Parrot, a Callistemon plant and the iconic Bayswater foreshore.
Mayor Filomena Piffaretti said the mural is part of the City’s commitment to delivering improvements to Bedford’s five shopping precincts.
“Last year, the City held workshops with local businesses and residents to help shape the revitalisation of Bedford’s main shopping strips. The shopping precinct located at 1070 Beaufort Street has been upgraded thanks to feedback from the community,” she said.
“The installation of the stunning artwork creates a more vibrant and inviting area for customers to nearby businesses and also celebrates the City’s pristine natural environment.
“It’s fantastic to see the community’s vision for Bedford come to life thanks to improvements like the inclusion of this new mural.”
Landscaping will also be completed mid-year to further enhance the appeal of 1070 Beaufort Street.
The City will roll out improvements to other Bedford shopping precincts later this year.
