City celebrates National Recycling Week
Oct 16 2023

The City will celebrate National Recycling Week with a program of free activities and workshops for residents of all ages from Monday 13 November to Sunday 19 November 2023.

Five events will be hosted across the City to inspire waste minimisation ideas for everyday life.

Residents can learn tips to improve recycling habits and attend a workshop about making the switch to modern cloth nappies.

Tours of the East Metropolitan Regional Council’s Canning Vale Resource Recovery Centre and Cleanaway’s Perth Materials Recovery Facility will be on offer to those interested in learning about how waste is processed after collection.

The City has also partnered with Cleanaway to help educate young children about the importance of recycling through the Rubbish Truck Storytime.

The free events complement the City's ongoing commitment to waste minimisation through supporting behaviour change in the community.

Through the early implementation of FOGO and regular recycling initiatives, the City is well placed to meet the State Government’s Waste Avoidance and Resource Recovery Strategy 2030 targets to reduce the amount of waste going to landfill; and recover, reuse and recycle more household waste.
