City to support a greener Baysie this Plastic Free July
The City is hosting a range of events to encourage a reduction in plastic waste.
In celebration of Plastic Free July, City of Bayswater has partnered with Enviro House to host a series of activities and workshops to encourage the community to reduce their plastic waste by refusing single-use plastic.
Residents can visit Enviro House’s recycling station for a tour, learn about the past, present and future of plastics with sustainability educator Laura Monisse and make their own beeswax wraps and lip balms to help reduce landfill and save money.
Children can also get involved by creating their own aquatic creature using recycled materials and learn the importance of keeping waterways and oceans free from plastic.
The events complement the City's ongoing commitment to waste minimisation through supporting behaviour change in the community.
Through the early implementation of FOGO and regular recycling initiatives, the City is well placed to meet the State Government’s Waste Avoidance and Resource Recovery Strategy 2030 targets to reduce the amount of waste going to landfill; and recover, reuse and recycle more household waste.
